Different Colored Eyes Day

July 12

Different Colored Eyes Day

Different Colored Eyes Day is currently unknown, but it was most likely created by someone with heterochromia iridum. This holiday celebrates heterochromia iridum, also called heterochromia iridis or simply heterochromia, which is a difference in coloration of the iris. In complete heterochromia, one iris is a different color from the second iris. In partial heterochromia or sectoral heterochromia, part of one iris is a different color from the rest of that same iris.

Different Colored Eyes Day also celebrates diversity of eye color! Popular eye colors include brown, hazel, grey, blue, and green.

Celebrate this weird holiday by looking into the mirror and appreciating how beautiful your eyes are! Start a conversation with friends about eyes and eye colors.

The History

The holiday was founded by Jean Quinn of B Able Incorporated, but it is not known exactly when this idea came to her. It is noteworthy that today people with eyes of different colors attract attention, seem mysterious. However, in the past it was believed that people with heterochromia had magical abilities, were they endowed with evil spells? Considered witches and witchers. In some peoples, different eye colors were considered a sign of mediums and the ability to communicate with the other world. Close attention has been and is being paid to human eyes, as they are considered the mirror of the soul. Today, such a phenomenon is treated with admiration, and in the past, everything inexplicable was a scarecrow and was considered something otherworldly.
