History

The holiday was founded by the Harlem Globetrotters, an American basketball team. Participants make their performances as bright and memorable as possible, using elements of show, theater, comedy and, of course, sports. The team was formed in 1920. Initially, they took part in the games, and even gained a reputation as one of the strongest clubs in the United States. Since the 1950s, the mission of the Harlem Globetrotters has shifted towards the show – they have worked daily to create interesting tricks that will appeal to the public.

Interesting facts

Notably, the Globetrotters:

• in the heyday of the movement, they visited with tours more than 120 countries of the world – in each of them they were eagerly awaited. Many states took promises that more professionals would come;
• in 1990, the management of the club changed, it was decided to again focus on the sports component;
• the team has a star on the “Walk of Fame” – an honorable moment;
• the form of the participants has not changed over the years and reminds the fans of the American flag, which is very symbolic;
• 60% of fans are men;
• there is an interesting film where, after a plane crash, the team ends up on a lost island and meets with robots.
