Son and Daughter Day

Son and Daughter Day is a sweet holiday where it is customary to pamper children and give gifts. Many families are separated by miles, but it does not matter: parents tend to visit their sons and daughters to tell them how much they love and appreciate them. Family comes first, especially today.

History

The holiday was first in 1988, but its origins trace back much earlier. According to popular legend, a gentleman from Missouri was inspired by the story of a boy and immediately came up with the idea of a celebration, later sharing it with others. This boy complained to the man that adults do not notice him and are always busy with their own affairs. This prompted him to make it clear to fathers and mothers that this is not the way to do it.

Gradually, Son and Daughter Day took root and became one of the annual favorites. The final stage was marked by a member of the Florida House of Representatives, who appealed to the US Congress to have the National Day recognized at the official level.

Interesting facts

The holiday was created not only for those who have their own children. Many dedicate it to their nephews, nieces, siblings, or neighbors. The main thing is attention, care, and love!

Interestingly, more boys are born in the US than girls. And there are more than 83 million families in the country!

You can:

• Visit amusement parks, cinemas, cafes, and other entertainment places;
• Get together in nature and have a picnic;
• Prepare delicious meals;
• Meet with family and set a festive table;
• If it is not possible to meet in person, send a nice present;
• Fulfill a dream;
• Ask for forgiveness for all wrongs.

The celebration has no age restrictions. Children remain children to their parents at any age.
