National Trail Mix Day is celebrated annually on August 31st. This is a special holiday dedicated to many favorite snacks, originally intended for “snacks” on hikes and travels. But today, people who have fallen in love with the trail mix are quietly eating it while staying at home, walking in the park, sitting at work, or in between college lectures.
According to unspecified information, the trail mix was created by two surfers in California in 1968. They mixed raisins and peanuts together to make a healthy snack that can give you an energy boost. And they did great! Who created the National Trail Mix Day remains unknown. Perhaps the idea belonged to another surfer or a person who is passionate about a different sport. Or the hiker – they’re big fans of the raisin and peanut combo!
Author Kurt Vonnegut considered a mix of crushed cashew nuts, muesli and raisins soaked in maple syrup and dried in the sun to be a great trail mix.
