Working Naked Day is an annual holiday that encourages people to let go of their inhibitions and embrace body positivity. To celebrate, participants are invited to spend their working day completely naked—preferably at home or in a naturist-friendly environment. It’s important to discuss your plans with colleagues and management, as this activity may not be appropriate in every workplace. Working Naked Day is observed on the first Friday in February each year.
History
The holiday was created by author and home office expert Lisa Kanarek in 2010. Her idea was enthusiastically supported by Bare Oaks Family Naturist Park, a naturist resort located near Toronto, Canada.
Bare Oaks is owned by Stéphane Deschênes and his family, who advocate for traditional naturist values and encourage guests to shed their insecurities. The park offers amenities such as saunas and hot tubs, and its community aims to help people accept their bodies as they are.
Stéphane Deschênes prefers the term “naturists” over “nudists,” emphasizing that the goal is to embrace and accept one’s own body without shame. Events and gatherings at Bare Oaks help members relax, open up, and build confidence—both physically and emotionally.
