Star Wars Day

Star Wars Day is celebrated by fans of the movie saga around the world. For them, it is a great reason to rewatch a favorite film created by the famous American director George Lucas.

History

It is believed that the date for the celebration was chosen as a result of wordplay. The Jedi’s phrase, “May the Force be with you,” sounds similar to May 4th. This clever pun became the deciding factor in selecting the holiday’s date.

Additionally, on May 4, 1979, newly elected British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher was greeted by her supporters with the phrase, “May the 4th be with you, Maggie!” This phrase may have also contributed to the choice of date for Star Wars Day.
