The Newport Wales Marathon is a highly anticipated event in Wales! The race takes place on one of the flattest tracks in Europe and attracts thousands of participants every year. An interesting race starts on the embankment in the very center of the city. The organizers think over everything to the smallest detail so that the runners feel comfortable and interesting to compete.
The holiday was founded by the Welsh Government and Newport City Council. The event is supported by Associated British Ports and R4W. The first race was organized in 2019 (10 thousand people took part in it) and does not plan to take place for many more years due to the genuine interest of the population.
The Wales Marathon is only 10 km instead of a difficult 26,2 miles. Both a professional athlete and a novice athlete can take part. The route passes through iconic sights – the city bridge, interesting monuments, picturesque places, coastal medieval villages. There is so much beauty around that the complexity of running is simply not noticed.
Important: Not everyone can participate. The runner must be 18 years of age. There are medical blocks along the entire route, so in case of an emergency, doctors will always provide assistance and transport to the end point. The marathon usually starts at 9 am.
Did you know that:
- the flat marathon course is the most popular in the United Kingdom. It is ideal for both trained runners and those who have just joined;
- 70% of participants set personal records at the finish line!;
- Newport is a multicultural city with an extraordinary atmosphere;
- about 1 billion pairs of sports shoes are sold every year;
- while running, the whole body is involved: tendons, bones, blood vessels, nerve endings, joints and ligaments.
