History
Scientists cannot say for sure who came up with the idea of celebrating the holiday. There are many theories: Babylon, Ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, but most lean towards the ancient Celts. In Egypt, the celebration took place in September. The date was not chosen by chance: during this period, the Nile River overflowed its banks, signaling the start of the agricultural season. Agriculture was very important. During this period, they gave gifts to loved ones and had fun. The Roman statesman Julius Caesar introduced the Julian calendar in 46 BC.
