National Word Nerd Day is dedicated to all people who know and appreciate the importance of our mother tongue. The holiday is also by everyone who, at any convenient opportunity, is quick to remind you that the word written in the letter is spelled differently, or that a person uses the wrong stress in a conversation. Sometimes we consider such smart people to be boring, but they have a lot to teach us!
History
Language arose with the appearance of people on the planet. At first, it was primitive, but this did not prevent people from understanding each other and agreeing on things. Over time, it has been improved and modified, and has come down to us in its best form. Writing in the medieval period was not available to everyone—only rich people had access to it. The rest were content with oral narration.
In the 18th century, everything changed: education became accessible to the majority. It’s great that now we don’t have to save up a fortune to go to school and learn to read and write. By the way, scientists still have not agreed on where language originated—their debates have always been characterized by excessive impulsiveness, turning into anger! In 1866, these discussions were literally banned, forbidding researchers to even think about it. This initiative was taken by the Linguistic Society of Paris.
National Word Nerd Day shows how important it is to know your native language. Every day we take it for granted, without thinking about its origins and the people who supplemented and improved it. Take it seriously and mark the date!
