Heavy music lovers, are you here? November 11 is National Metal Day, dedicated to everyone who treats this musical style with awe and love. We are sure that the holiday has taken root not only in the USA, therefore, wherever you are, join us!
History
National Day was founded in 2011 at the initiative of the music network VH1 Classic. The 11th day of the eleventh month is not chosen by chance: the idiom comes from the movie “This is Spinal Tap”. In it, Nigel Tufnel shows an amplifier: the volume controls on it are labeled from zero to 11 (instead of 10).
Metal is one of the most difficult musical genres. The direction is special, not created for every person. It is distinguished by strength, power, unique aesthetics … In a word – definitely not for modest people! The style came from Great Britain, originated in one of the industrial working areas. Also, the origin is associated with British blues rock.
Interesting facts
Did you know that metal:
- has an unusual rhythm that can be recognized from a few seconds. Abrupt, sometimes “illogical” repetitive rhythm changes are adored all over the world;
- has its own melody, however, it is sometimes difficult to hear. Try to listen to the track and find it;
- perceived by the public as ordinary noise. Listening really takes preparation! It is best to turn on the player more often – it works!;
- most democratic style. If in other directions the leading link is the vocalist, to whom they literally adapt, here the situation is completely different: the members of the group are in absolutely equal conditions;
- makes the musicians perform as if it were the last time – you will confirm if you have ever attended a performance.
How to celebrate
Buy a concert ticket! This is probably the best thing to do on National Metal Day. Invite loved ones and go on a picnic to heavy music. Throw a party at your house – think over the dress code, drinks, food. It’s time to have fun!
When is National Metal Day celebrated in 2022?
