National Lemon Cream Pie Day

National Lemon Crea is celebrated in the USA on November 29th. We hope that the sweet tooth has already gathered to celebrate the existence of a wonderful sunny treat! It appeared a very long time ago and has come down to our days. And we’re definitely not going to forget about the pie!

History

Scholars suggest that lemon pie first appeared in Italy in the mid-1500s. Very soon they learned about the recipe in France. But filling with cream or meringue became popular in the 19th century. There have been many experiments over the centuries – in fact, they continue to this day!

Even though November is pumpkin pie time, National Day brings us back to the sweet summer to enjoy it at least on our plate. The smell of the pie can strike from the first second! Unfortunately, the treat will not suit everyone: it is not recommended for people with allergies to citrus, people with kidney disease. The rest can enjoy the dessert and decorate the holiday table with it.

• are not found in the wild: scientists cannot determine the history of occurrence. There is a theory that they originated by crossing other citrus fruits;
• first mentioned in chronicles of the 12th century;
• in a ripe state contains more than 3% of the total mass;
• contains the daily value of vitamin C for an adult;
• used in ancient times as a disinfectant;
• helped sailors from scurvy – this discovery was made by James Cook;
• pickled in India – a very common dish;
• helps with oversalting – if you add too much salt to the soup, add a couple of drops of lemon to it, and the taste will become pleasant;
• represents unrequited love in Spain.
