National Fresh Squeezed Juice Day is an American holiday dedicated to freshly squeezed juice. This tasty and very healthy food product contains a large amount of vitamins and minerals. It is every year on January 15th.
History
Today, fresh squeezed juice is in high demand around the world. The popularity of this product has increased significantly thanks to the most famous nutritionists, who advise stopping the purchase of packaged juices in stores and instead making them at home. Thanks to modern technology, this has become possible. The automatic juicer effectively extracts the nutritious liquid from vegetables, fruits, or berries. Freshly squeezed juices are very well absorbed by the body, a process that takes only 10-15 minutes.
We owe the invention of the juicer to Norman Walker. This man was a strict vegetarian who believed that consuming raw plant foods and juices helps maintain health, ensure the normal functioning of all organs and systems, and improve blood circulation. He took this position after he once became seriously ill. A doctor friend advised him to go on a raw food diet. Some time later, in the 1930s, Norman invented the first juicer to have daily access to freshly squeezed juice. It consisted of two parts: a crusher and a press, which directly squeezed out the juice.
Interesting facts
- Many doctors recommend that freshly squeezed juices be slightly diluted with clean water before consumption to improve their digestibility by the stomach.
- Norman Walker’s vegetarianism helped him tremendously. He was cheerful and full of energy until the end of his days, dying at the age of 99, right in his sleep.
- If you have stomach problems (gastritis, ulcers, etc.), you should be very careful with acidic juices, such as those from cranberries, apples, lingonberries, and more.
