National Dance Day is an annual dance celebration. Turn on a rhythmic melody and add some movement to your life! This holiday is celebrated every third Saturday in September.
History
National Dance Day was created to promote a healthy lifestyle among the American population through dance. A visit to the dance floor not only relieves emotional stress but also helps maintain muscle tone, strength, and endurance. Dancing also improves the functioning of the heart and blood vessels and increases flexibility. The holiday was established in 2010 by fans of American national dances—Nigel Lithgow, a representative of the American dance movement, and Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton. Originally, it was observed in July, but starting in 2020, National Dance Day moved to September.
Dancing has many positive effects. It not only enhances physical health but also effectively fights stress, emotional tension, and anxiety, and improves mood. Health is the greatest wealth, and dancing is a wonderful way to support it.
