Chips have long been one of the most famous and favorite snacks for people around the world. National Corn Chip Day allows you to get acquainted with the history of their creation, try to cook a dish at home on your own, and just have a good time with friends, forgetting about all the problems for a while.
History
Chips have been popular since 1932. The idea of creating the dish came to C. E. Doolin. He owned a small pastry shop and decided to diversify the menu by adding corn tortillas to it. All of them quickly became stale and sold poorly. According to one version, other snacks pushed Doolin to improve the quality of the dish. He tried to replicate a taste he liked and quickly achieved success.
Bags of chips were sold not only in Charles’ store. Ten years later, he met with a representative of the Lay’s potato chips company, and by the 1950s, almost the whole country knew about the new dish. It was in special demand, and after Doolin’s death, they were temporarily called Frito-Lay when the two manufacturers began to work together.
