Coral Triangle Day was established to draw attention to the environmental significance of the Coral Triangle. The date, June 9th, was chosen to follow World Oceans Day on June 8th, emphasizing the interconnectedness of global marine ecosystems. The first celebration aimed to position the Coral Triangle as a globally significant ecoregion and to inspire actions that protect its natural treasures. Over the years, this day has become a platform for various conservation efforts and public awareness campaigns, highlighting the need for sustainable practices to preserve this vital marine area.
