From our school years, we learn about the terrible, long, and bloody World War II. The Nazi German regime sought to take control of nearly the entire world, but the armies of the Allied countries succeeded in defeating them.
According to Central European Time, Nazi Germany’s surrender took place on May 8, 1945. Therefore, May 8 is celebrated as Victory Day. Rallies, concerts, and commemorative events are held. Many refer to this date as the day of victory over fascism. Numerous books, films, commemorative coins, and stamps are dedicated to the great Victory Day.
How to Take Part
People gather in public squares, congratulate each other, and mourn those who lost their lives. The following events are also organized:
