National Student Athlete Day is an American holiday dedicated to student athletic teams. History

The first student athletic competitions began in 1852 when two major American educational institutions, Harvard University and Yale University, initiated the organization of internal and intercollegiate competitions.

In 1906, student athletics gained momentum with the creation of the IAAS, which was renamed the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) four years later. Today, much attention is given to the athletic aspect of education at institutions of higher learning in the United States. Many students successfully develop their athletic skills and even bring awards to their universities from major competitions in various sports.
