Not all Americans know about National Science Fiction Day. Let’s just say that these are select people who are crazy about books, films, and comics on this subject. Sometimes they cannot be torn away from watching or reading – so deeply do fans immerse themselves in the events presented. What about you?
History
The date was not chosen by chance – it was on January 2 that Isaac Asimov was born. He is one of the most talented science fiction writers, adored by people around the world. Although born in Russia, he spent his life promoting science and literature in America. His works have been translated into almost all languages of the planet. He wrote many interesting books, an autobiography, and worked in periodicals. Asimov had unlimited creative potential – any author would envy his productivity.
Unfortunately, he passed away in 1992, although he could have continued creating for a long time. During a heart operation, he spent a long time in medical facilities and contracted HIV through a blood transfusion. He found out about this later, when he received a second heart blow, and his kidneys were also affected.
National Science Fiction Day is not an official holiday, but it has the support of large organizations like Scholastic Corporation and Hallmark Channel. Perhaps someday the government will decide to legalize it, but for now, fans are content with this recognition.
