National Grape Popsicle Day is the perfect excuse to enjoy a refreshing and delicious treat. If you don’t like grapes, take any other popsicle – there’s a wide variety.
History
The first popsicle appeared by chance in 1905. It happened in California. 11-year-old boy Frank Epperson wanted to make soda using flavored powder. He mixed the diluted powder with a stick and left it for the whole night on the house’s porch. The temperature dropped a lot that night, causing this mixture to freeze. In the morning the boy saw a frozen treat.
Later, he began experimenting with various fruit juices. He called this dessert the ‘popsicle’. Frank presented his delicacy at the firemen’s ball in 1922, and it was a great success. In a year, Frank Epperson sold the first popsicle, and in patented it 1924.
It is believed the first National Grape Popsicle Day was held in 2008. Why exactly grape was chosen is unknown. Maybe because of its great taste and beautiful color.
