National Camp Day is celebrated on November 19 in the USA. This is an important holiday for those who love children’s camps, nature, and new acquaintances. It is rare to find a child who has never visited such a place. Some go there every year! And it’s really great!
History
The first recorded campaign took place in 1861. We are sure that there were others before this event, but we are talking about confirmed stories. Frederick and Abigail Gunn recruited a group of boys from school and set out on a two-week hike through Connecticut. They had fun: they went boating, explored the world around them, got acquainted with plants, fished and fried on fires … The trip became extremely successful, so the traditions were introduced in all schools.
In 1876, the School of Physical Education was founded, to which guys from various states hurried. There they mastered a healthy lifestyle, received excellent health, strengthened the body. Over time, camps appeared that invited everyone who wants to have a fun vacation to stay. Today, many organizations operate throughout the country, and the American Camp Association monitors their safety and smooth operation.
