International Geocaching Day is perfect for outdoor activities! Today, people of different age groups come together to have fun. If you have ever taken part in such events, you will surely recommend them to others!
History
Geocaching is a game using satellite navigation. Its main goal is to find a cache that has been prepared for you in advance. This is a kind of analogue of a treasure hunt, where notes hidden in various places lead to the treasure of the participants.
The development of GPS in the world has led to the creation of an exciting game. The first cache was hidden in 2000 by Dave Ulmer, and it quickly became a real hype! It included a plastic bucket filled with various things: money, books, disks, etc.
Hundreds of organizations picked up the idea and hid caches everywhere. According to statistics, more than 600 million treasures have been found since 2000!
Today the game continues to grow: there are more and more participants, and the so-called treasures are getting more and more interesting.
International Geocaching Day has been since 2011.
Interesting Facts
The most significant find is a logbook that is hidden in waterproof containers. Here participants leave their autographs so that others know the cache has been discovered.
The cache contains various items. The person who found it can take one of them, but at the same time, they must add something of equal value.
