In the 19th century, these pants became a distinctive feature of the Royal Navy, but they later gained popularity among members of royal families as well. The pants saw widespread popularity in society during the 1970s, after which their fashion waned. However, in the 2020s, we are witnessing a resurgence in the popularity of these pants (most often in the form of jeans).
