World Day for War Orphans is a special date that draws the attention of the world to the armed conflicts taking place on our planet. Little citizens are left without parents, do not have a decent life, are deprived of care and affection. The situation can be changed, but for this we all need to unite!
The holiday was founded by the French organization SOS Enfants en Detresses. Every year they struggle with the urgent problems faced by deprived children. The loss of parents is always grief, in a military situation the situation is aggravated. More than 400 thousand children are suffering right now because of the war, this figure is 2 times more than 25 years ago. Save the Children published a document in 2020 stating that a child is a tidbit for kidnapping and sexual abuse. Unfortunately, the number of such cases is on the rise.
The organization is also engaged in improving educational activities and medicine, collects donations, and helps small residents cope with problems. The charitable foundation is registered in more than 120 countries of the world. Save the Children annually attracts new members and is not going to stop there.
Did you know that:
- orphans are more psychologically vulnerable;
- it is much more expensive to support a child in an orphanage than in a family;
- according to statistics, 1 out of 6 children is right now in the conflict zone.
