National Single Parent’s Day

National Single Parents Day is an American holiday dedicated to single parents. We should support these individuals and thank them for not giving up on their child and doing their best to raise them. It is celebrated annually on March 21.

History

The history of National Single Parents Day is not reliably known. Single parents have existed for very understandable reasons: epidemics, wars, and deaths from starvation. Due to the low level of medical care, mothers could die in childbirth, leaving the father to raise the child alone or the child to be taken in by acquaintances or strangers.

In today’s world, parents become single when one partner dies or leaves the family. A lot of responsibility falls on the shoulders of the mother or father, as they need to balance work and spending enough time with their child. The task is easier if the child is old enough (14 years and older). If the child is young, hiring a nanny can make life much easier.

Interesting Facts

  • According to statistical studies, the number of single parents increased by 20% between 1980 and 2008.
  • Globally, the average single parent household is about 9-12%.
  • The most important thing for a single parent is to have supportive relatives or devoted friends. Emotional support and someone to listen are crucial.

How to Celebrate

Congratulate friends and acquaintances if they are single parents. Support them and help them in any way you can. Raising a child is a difficult task, but they strive to do it well.

Spread the word on social media. Check with other users to see if any of them are single parents. How do they handle all the responsibilities? Do they use a babysitting service?
