National Sing Out Day is an American holiday dedicated to singing. Put your vocal cords to the test that day by singing your favorite song! The holiday is celebrated annually on March 22.
History
The history of National Sing Out Day is not reliably known. It was probably established by professional vocalists or people who really loved to sing.
More than 100,000 years ago, back in the Ice Age, humans mastered speech. As speech became more articulate and formed, singing emerged. It was probably discovered by accident when someone tried to stretch out the sounds in words. In the ancient world, singing was not considered an art or entertainment but was mainly used by shamans, healers, and priestesses and had ceremonial significance. As society evolved, so did the art of singing, and it became widespread. People sang in all kinds of situations: when they were happy, sad, or needed to support others.
Today, we are used to listening to songs on record. It is believed that the first recorded song appeared in 1860 thanks to Édouard-Léon Scott de Martinville and was recorded using a phonograph. He was also the inventor of this device. Today there are both professional performers with proper vocal training and amateurs who are always happy to support a good song or cheer up visitors to the bar with karaoke.
