National Neighborhood Day was founded specifically for those who want to establish friendly relations with their neighbors. Being a good neighbor is not only pleasant but also useful, as friendly relations can develop into strong friendships, and neighbors can help in difficult situations. September 28 is a good reason to visit your neighbors.
History
In 1947, Levitt and his sons in New York state built a settlement for 2,000 people – that’s a lot of neighbors. In 1989, the film “The ‘Burbs” with Tom Hanks was released, which was about a group of neighbors who believe that one of them is associated with a satanic sect. On the last day of summer in 2001, the final episode of “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” aired.
How to Be a Good Neighbor
- Be sure to greet your neighbors, be friendly, keep up the conversation, and be sincerely interested in their lives.
- Meet new neighbors – be the first to visit, bring a treat, and introduce yourself.
- Regularly clean your yard, take care of flower beds and lawns – this will please yourself and make your neighbors happy.
- Don’t be overly curious; remember that some people like to be alone and don’t tend to share much about themselves with anyone.
How to Take Part
The first thing that comes to mind is to organize a picnic or a party for your neighbors. This way, you will get to know those who live nearby and create a strong community. Join the condominium association to make your area even better, more beautiful, and more attractive.
