Summer is gaining momentum, and it is an ideal time to celebrate National Iced Tea Day on June 10. Drop ice cubes into a glass and pour in the amber liquid with a fruity or natural tea flavor. Enjoy it!
History
The drink gained popularity among Americans in 1904. That summer in St. Louis turned out to be unusually hot. There was an agricultural fair that Richard Blechynden attended. He was the owner of a tea plantation and realized there would be no demand for hot tea in the hot season. He started offering chilled tea to guests. Visitors liked the refreshing taste and it quickly caught on.
