Chips have long been one of the most famous and favorite snacks for people around the world. National Corn Chip Day allows you to get acquainted with the history of their creation, try to cook a dish at home on your own and just have a good time with friends, forgetting about all the problems for a while.
Chips have been popular since 1932. The idea of creating a dish came to C. E. Dulin. He owned a small pastry shop and decided to diversify the menu by adding corn tortillas to it. All of them quickly became stale and sold poorly. According to one version, other snacks pushed Doolin to improve the quality of the dish. He tried to repeat the taste he liked and quickly achieved success.
Bags of chips were sold not only in Charles’ store, ten years later he met with a representative of the Lay’s potato chips company, and by the 1950s, almost the whole country knew about the new dish. It was in special demand, and after Doolin’s death they were temporarily called Frito-Lay, when the two manufacturers began to work together.
- Lay’s is considered the first official brand of chips. The founder of the company is Herman Ley, who named it after himself. Over time, culinary specialists were able to offer much more flavors than in the first years after opening. They vary by country and region. In some, you can even find honey, chocolate or mint flavored chips.
- In the United States of America, an International Institute was created specifically to study the dish and find new recipes.
- Absolutely all people know about the dangers of chips, but still continue to eat them. According to the survey, the majority prefers to eat them while watching TV, having a bad mood or reading a book.
