Get your gadgets ready because National App Day is all about the best apps! It’s hard to underestimate them: programs help you connect with friends, order groceries at home, eat right, exercise, get to know each other, build an effective business… Is it possible to find a person who doesn’t use them?
History
National Day was created by CJ Thompson, director of Platinum Edge Media. The holiday is dedicated to developers and ordinary users. As of 2017, diverse applications have been downloaded over 175 million times! Today, this number is probably higher, because it was 2020 that became outstanding, brought new technologies and functionality.
In the mid-80s, the British computer company Psion released an organizer. It was primitive, but included a calculator, a text editor, a diary and other functionality. It is believed that he opened the way for the development of mobile applications. The famous Apple App Store appeared in 2008 – in just a week of existence, smartphone owners downloaded applications about 10 million times! Initially, the company released about 500 applications.
