International Marconi Day is an international holiday created in honor of Guglielmo Marconi. This man was the inventor who developed the radio telegraph system and significantly contributed to the creation of wireless communication technology. The holiday is celebrated annually on the Saturday closest to April 25, Marconi’s birthday.
History
The history of International Marconi Day begins in 1988, when it was established by the Cornwall Amateur Radio Club. The date of the celebration was chosen in honor of the birthday of the famous Italian inventor, Guglielmo Marconi. He is credited with the invention of the radio.
Today, we listen to the radio in the car or at home without even thinking about how it was created. Marconi was homeschooled and had a particular interest in physics—his parents hired the best teachers for this subject. The future inventor was very fond of electrical engineering.
A passion for technical science led to the beginning of the development of wireless telegraphy and radio waves technology in the 1890s. At the time, it was an innovative field. At the age of 21, Marconi moved to London, where he patented radio communication technology and created his own company.
