Jackie Robinson Day is an American holiday dedicated to the famous Major League Baseball player. It is an important day both for the players themselves and for fans of the sport. It is celebrated every year on April 15.

History

The holiday was first celebrated in 2004. Fans from all over the world joined the celebration. Since then, it has been celebrated annually and is very popular.

In 1919 the future baseball star Jackie Robinson was born. He became interested in baseball when he was still in high school, and since then the love for the sport has never let him go. In college and university he continued to train hard, trying to break into the ranks of professional players. His determination led him to a minor-league offer to play in 1945.

The April 15 date is tied to 1947 – that’s when the Los Angeles Dodgers club (modern name) inducted Jackie into the Major Leagues. Thus, for his high achievements in baseball, he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1962.
