World Quality Day

World Quality Day is celebrated every year on the second Thursday of November. This holiday raises awareness among entrepreneurs, organizations, and companies about the importance of high-quality standards for financial success and long-term prosperity. The first official World Quality Day took place in London in 2008 and has since become an annual event.

History

The Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) sets a unique theme for World Quality Day each year, such as “Sustainability – how to improve products and people” or “Creating value for customers.” Founded in 1919, CQI is a professional body focused on enhancing the quality of goods, services, and processes. With more than 20,000 members, it is the only organization globally that can award the title of “Chartered Quality Professional” and oversees the International Register of Certified Auditors.

One of CQI’s key goals is to partner with organizations and manufacturers to help them improve product quality. World Quality Day was first celebrated on November 13, 2008, in London.

Interesting Facts

  • CQI’s mission is to create a world where organizations can thrive and deliver products that benefit consumers and all stakeholders.
  • Quality management systems are built on four main pillars: quality planning, quality assurance, quality control, and quality improvement.
  • To become a quality specialist, candidates must have relevant work experience, complete professional training, and maintain continuous professional development goals.

How to Take Part

If you’re interested in a career in quality control, start with a self-assessment to see how well you meet the requirements, including leadership skills, experience, and knowledge. If you run a business or factory, consider implementing a quality management system to boost your brand and streamline operations. Bring quality standards into your personal life as well, and pass them on to your children.
