Whipped cream was invented not as long ago as many people think: it happened in the 17th century. François Vatel was a cook and courtier of a relative of the Sun King Louis. One day, the ruler decided to visit their house, and the culinary specialist was given the task of surprising this important guest. François understood that there was no chance for a mistake because his life depended on the taste of the food, so he came up with something interesting…

Through experimentation, he whipped the cream and got a stable, fluffy mass. The French monarch praised his cooking skills and stayed at the palace for several days to taste all the dishes prepared. He also invited Vatel to his palace—it was a great honor. The next day, François was anxiously waiting for a convoy with fresh fish, but the time was approaching, and no one arrived. He considered it a disgrace and committed suicide.

National Day is also dedicated to Aaron Lapin, an American nicknamed “Rabbit”. In 1946, he had a brilliant idea: he bought an aerosol can, which at that time was filling America, filled it with a creamy mixture and nitrous oxide, and called the invention “Reddi-wip”. Thus, the usual packaging appeared, which housewives were incredibly happy about.

• in order for the cream to really whip and not become a shapeless mass, its fat content must be at least 30%;
