Not all Americans know about National Science Fiction Day. Let’s just say that these are selected people who are crazy about books, films, comics on this subject. Sometimes they can not be torn off from watching or reading – so fans go deep into the events presented. What about you?
The date was not chosen by chance – it was on January 2 that Isaac Asimov was born. This is one of the most talented science fiction writers, who is adored by the whole world. The man was born in Russia, but all his life he glorified the science and literature of America. His works have been translated into almost all languages of the planet. He wrote many interesting books, an autobiography, worked in periodicals… Asimov had unlimited creative potential – any author envied his activity.
Unfortunately, the man died in 1992, although he could still create for a long time. During a heart operation, he spent a long time in medical facilities and was infected with HIV through a blood transfusion. He found out about this later, when he received a second blow to the heart, and the kidneys were also affected.
National Day is not an official holiday, but has the support of large organizations – Scholastic Corporation, Hallmark Channel and others. Perhaps someday the government will decide to legalize it, but so far the fans are content with this state of affairs.
