National Food Day is celebrated on October 24th. It is dedicated to delicious, healthy, nutritious food that must be on the table! The goal is to teach people how to build the right diet, produce safe products, and competently farm. The quality of life directly depends on this!
National Day has been celebrated since 1973. It was created as an analogue of “Earth Day”. The founders are the Center for Science and the Public Interest (CSPI). Microbiologist and chemist Ralph Nader became the head of the organization. Initially, the institution carried out food control, checked standards and talked about the benefits of safe products.
Over time, new horizons opened up: checking alcohol, supervising restaurants, managing drug control, studying trans fats that are part of fast food. Many people joined the movement and supported the organization in word and deed. During this time, many problems have been solved, however, there are still new projects ahead!
Did you know that:
- CSPI persuaded restaurants to eliminate animal fat from frying foods in 1989;
- proper nutrition reduces the risk of cancer;
- a well-balanced diet is responsible for a good mood and cheerfulness;
- avoiding food with trans fats lowers blood cholesterol;
- organic farming is good for the environment;
- plant-based milk is very popular.
