Join Hands Day is an annual American holiday that encourages people from different generations to hold hands. In fact, it was created to reconcile the differences between the generations. Young people often reproach the elderly in their desire to think everything over, conservative views, etc. Those, in turn, reproach the young, in excessive hotness, pretentious attire and the like. There will always be a conflict of generations, but let’s reduce the level of its heat together! The holiday is celebrated every first Saturday in May.
The first Join Hands Day celebration took place in 2000. It was established by the AFA with the support of Points of Light, also a nonprofit organization. Their common goal was to bring people together to achieve common goals. They also worked hard to support volunteer foundations.
In addition to mutual help and support, the holiday is specifically aimed at eliminating conflicts between representatives of different generations. On this day, we should not cross the older generation, and older people should be more open to the suggestions of younger people. There is always a strong bond between the generations, so it should not be broken.
- The conflict of generations is perfectly illustrated in Russian writer Ivan Turgenev’s Fathers and Children.
- The emergence of conflict is socially conditioned: changes in society are inevitable, so people born in different periods will always experience differences in their views, values, etc.
How to celebrate
