International Dalek Remembrance Day is celebrated around the world on December 21st. The date is dedicated to Doctor Who fans. If you haven’t watched it, it’s time to start and get to know the characters who have their own holiday.
The Daleks appeared on screens in 1963. The first meeting with the doctor took place on their home planet. Fantastic creatures have become the worst enemies and rivals in the Time War – in many episodes it seems that the doctor has definitely won, but the Daleks appear again and again … Initially, they are shown in the form of rough tin boxes, but few people guess at the beginning that there is something inside living… It turns out that these are former scientists who became victims of radiation.
The holiday was founded in 1988 to honor the memory of the characters. Christmas holidays are ahead – which means that you will have time to watch the series! Yes, they frighten and terrify, but nevertheless they attract interest … One gets the feeling that the confrontation between the doctor and the Daleks lasts an eternity. Do you know or guess how it will end?
It’s amazing that:
- the eyes of the Daleks were considered the most vulnerable spot – if they are damaged, then the rest of the functionality will be broken automatically;
- their corps was equipped with explosives, so even dead opponents are dangerous;
- according to one version, the word “dalek” comes from their ancestors “kaled”. Interestingly, in English the name is applied to insensitive people;
- their traces can be found in books, games, music… Fans around the world are introducing the image into various fields. Many believe that these are the most thoughtful villains on earth.
