National Brother’s Day
You are fortunate if you have a male sibling, and this close relative should be congratulated on May 24, which is National Brothers Day. Sure, there may have been quarrels and disagreements, but also adventures and shared secrets that make a permanent, unbreakable bond.
The word ‘brother’ has ancient Indo-European roots. Throughout different epochs, family ties have been important, as they provide protection and ensure continuation. The holiday was first celebrated on 254 May in 2005. The first gathering was organized by C. Daniel Rhodes, and is celebrated in Europe, Asia, Australia and Russia.
How to take part
Meet up with your brother, engage in their favorite form of entertainment, play a sport with them. Discuss the news, have a glass of beer, or their favorite drink.
- It is often not acceptable to openly express feelings of love and gratitude towards brothers, as it seems strange and overly sentimental. Brothers are still pleased to hear this, even if they refuse to admit it. Tell them how much you value them.
- Give them a gift: a nice, funny little trinket. Choose a t-shirt with a funny picture, a mug, icon, or postcard, or tickets to their favorite sporting event.
- Take pictures; perpetuate the memory of the holiday by sharing pictures with friends, acquaintances.
Brothers become more than friends; the blood bond is indestructible, and overcomes adversity, obstacles, and social contradictions. It is impossible to explain rationally, but the phenomenon of spiritual kinship is there, even with obvious differences in attitude or worldview.
