World Tourism Day

World Tourism Day encourages each of us to check our fanny packs, get some maps with interesting routes, and check our cameras and chargers, every year on September 27th.

History

World Tourism Day is the result of the activities of a special unit of the United Nations called the World Tourism Organization (WTO). The mission of the holiday is to raise people’s awareness and talk about the benefits of tourism. The work of the WTO is focused on the development of a country’s economy, as well as tourism. In the modern world, tourism should be accessible to everyone, regardless of social status, income, profession, or place of residence.

Why World Tourism Day is loved by millions

  • Tourism creates additional jobs, and people can work in different parts of the world. For example, in the US, the tourism niche provides 7,6 million jobs. According to statistics, one in 18 Americans is involved in tourism.
  • The tourism sector brings excellent income to the country’s budget. In the United States, it is about 1,5 trillion dollars a year.
  • Traveling is good for physical and mental health. During trips, you will be healed spiritually, filled with new emotions, forget about problems, and avoid stress.
