National Cheeseburger Day

National Cheeseburger Day is dedicated to mouth-watering buns with meat patties and melted cheese that conquered all of America. It is celebrated on September 18th.

History

For the creation of cheeseburgers, we can thank Lionel Stergberger, who in 1926 worked in his father’s California diner. One day at work, he decided to put a piece of cheese on a grilled burger. After cooking it, the cheese melted and gave it a new taste.

A little refinement of the classic American burger allowed us to create a new dish, which became known as the cheeseburger. The diner quickly became a success, and the recipe spread around America, and then around the world.

Interesting facts

  • The weight of the largest cheeseburger in the world was 0,8 tons. It entered the Guinness Book of Records.
