Give Kids a Smile Day

Give Kids a Smile Day is an annual American holiday created to eradicate dental problems among children. Celebrated every first Friday in February.

History

Give Kids a Smile Day was established in 2003 when the American Dental Association came up with the initiative. The main goal was to help children from low-income and disadvantaged families who do not have enough money for therapy from qualified dentists.

Dentists unite in initiative groups where they conduct general examinations, take x-rays, and provide assistance to children in other ways. Their goal is to minimize dental problems among children and give them a healthy smile!

Interesting facts

  • According to researchers, today about 10 million children under the age of 18 practically do not receive dental care or receive it in insufficient quantities.
  • Teeth are just as much a sign of a person’s identity as fingerprints. All teeth are different!
  • The very first dentist is considered to be a doctor from ancient Egypt. He lived more than 5,000 years ago, and his name was Khesi-Ra.

How to celebrate

If you are not able to use the services of paid dentists, then seek free help, which is available on Give Kids a Smile Day. Your children deserve a beautiful smile. This holiday is also a great opportunity to go for an examination yourself.

You can also review your habits to keep your teeth healthy: start brushing your teeth more often, stop eating overly hot or cold food, and reduce the amount of sweets you consume.

Tell others about the holiday on social networks. Let more people know about it!
