Vinyl Record Day

Vinyl Record Day - August 12

Who doesn’t love listening to music? National Vinyl Record Day was created for music lovers who not only appreciate high-quality sound, but also have a collection of vinyl records. Records are a special love for true fans, which is why right now it’s time to dust off the record player and enjoy the timeless classics!

The History

National Day was founded by Gary Freiberg of Los Osos, California. He chose a date and dated it to the day of the creation of the phonograph – the first device for recording and reproducing sound. Created by Thomas Edison in 1877.

Gary encourages not only passionate music fans, but also ordinary people to remember the things that forever changed the music world. A vinyl record is a real gift of bygone years!

Interesting facts

If you are far from National Vinyl Record Day, then you will be surprised that many modern artists record singles on records. It’s easy to check!

What else is interesting:

  • black and colored vinyl are not the same in sound, the second one seriously loses in this;
  • the most expensive record – the Wu-Tang Clan album “Once Upon a Time in Shaolin”, sold in 2015 for $ 2 million;
  • one of the iconic album covers of all time belongs to The Beatles – “Abbey Road”;
  • a similar holiday, Music Store Day, is celebrated on August 29th.

How to celebrate

Celebrate the day with a trip to your local record store, a great excuse to buy a record from your favorite band! If you are not a collector, now is the time to become one. Also, it will not be superfluous to wipe the records with special vinyl cleaners to preserve their integrity for many years. Find out more from various sources!
