National Nonprofit Day
National Nonprofit Day is dedicated to caring people who know the challenges charitable organizations face. Their work is most valued because millions around the world need help here and now. In order for specialists to be able to provide it to all those in need, the assistance of others is necessary.
According to statistics, 1.5 organizations are registered in the United States, each of which plays a crucial role in the development of society. These are, for example, affordable housing, medical care, legal assistance, education, etc. The list is endless.
National Nonprofit Day was proposed by Sherrita J. Herring in 2017. Since then, public attention has been drawn to it. The date was not chosen by chance – it was on August 17, 1894, that the Tariff Act was signed, which exempted the non-profit sector from paying taxes.
A few Interesting facts:
- most donations occur at the end of the year. Moreover, the amounts have increased over the past 10 years;
- a quarter of the population of America is registered in volunteer centers;
- mobile devices facilitate voluntary contributions – more than 10% of transactions are made through devices;
- non-profit organizations make a significant contribution to the US economy.
