National Daylight Appreciation Day
June 21, 2022
Daylight Appreciation Day is when we thank the Universe for sunshine. It is essential for life on our planet. The sun warms, inspires, and pleases. According to scientific studies, sunlight helps reduce stress levels.
The date when Daylight Appreciation Day appeared is not known, but its founder is. This is the American company Solatube International, which creates innovative lighting systems using natural sunlight. Tubular devices developed by the company’s specialists capture not only direct sunlight but also collect reflected light from the entire sky. They provide soft, but bright illumination of any premises in any weather and time of day.
And on gloomy cloudy days, and early in the morning, and late in the evening, Solatube optical technologies can fill the house with real light from the sun. The company specifically came up with this holiday to raise people’s awareness of the benefits of natural light. And to remind us to have respect for our planet’s resources: the use of daylight saves energy.
We are not the first to thank the sun for its light. People in ancient times understood the value of sunlight and even worshiped the sun as a deity.
How to take part

- If your hometown hosts events dedicated to the solstice, take part in them.
- The longest day of the year is best spent outdoors! Organize an interesting walk, picnic, or pool party with family or friends.
- Check if there is enough daylight entering your home. It is probably worth updating your interior and buying new curtains – today there are enough translucent and environmentally friendly materials for window decorations.
