National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day - August 4

National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day is a great excuse to eat your favorite treat. People all over the world warmly relate to these cookies – for some it reminds of them childhood, and others just love sweets. There are many varieties of this dessert, and all of them are relevant on this day.

History

Like many other amazing delicacies, this dessert appeared due to a chef’s mistake. In 1938, a woman named Ruth Wakefield decided to make chocolate chip cookies. However, the chocolate pieces didn’t melt and blend into the batter like Ruth had planned. There was nothing to do – she had to serve it like that. Now we know it turns out even tastier this way.

The new dish quickly became popular, and Nestle turned to Ruth, wanting to get the recipe for this wonderful delicacy to print on the wrapper of their products. Ruth agreed, in exchange for one dollar and a lifetime supply of chocolate.

Interesting facts
