HG Awareness Day
HG Awareness Day is an international information event. Its goal is to spread important information as much as possible and raise citizens’ awareness of Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG).
Hyperemesis Gravidarum is a complication some pregnant women may experience. Its essence lies in severe nausea and vomiting. No, we aren’t talking about mild nausea in the morning. Some women with HG may vomit up to 20 times a day.
Pregnant women have been experiencing this complication for a long time, but its exact causes aren’t known still. Among causes, doctors single out multiple pregnancy, excessive consumption of saturated fats, asthma, genetic data. It’s noted that percentage of women suffering from HG is growing every year.
It’s unknown when HG Awareness Day was founded. The events are led by the HER Foundation, founded in 2003. This organization purpose is raising awareness about HG and supporting pregnant women experiencing complications during such an important period. The organization assists in the drugs’ development, provides all necessary information to pregnant women and their families. High awareness can help a woman save her child and health.
