History

Carl Garner Federal Lands was celebrated for the first time in 1985, but it had a different name – National Cleaning of Federal Lands Day. The founder of the initiative – engineer Carl Garner – invited everyone to come clean up the area around Lake Greers Ferry. As a result, the lake and the surrounding area have been transformed. Very soon, his initiative became widespread. On this day now, regular cleanings are carried out, and cleanliness is maintained in various ways.
