Australian Citizenship Day is celebrated by all people who were born in this country or received citizenship as an adult. It is celebrated on September 17th.

History

More than 27 million people of various nationalities live in Australia. This diversity is due to the fact that after the Second World War, more than seven million immigrants from many countries came to the country.

Every person wishing to obtain a state passport must go through the Australian Citizenship Ceremony. The event is attended by state representatives welcoming new citizens. In 1999, on the fiftieth anniversary of the ceremony, a new provision was introduced – a person is obliged to publicly make a promise to those present, in which he declares his commitment to the country.
