Kindergarten Day is an annual American holiday devoted to kindergartens. Thanks to these institutions, parents can go to work in peace, because the children are safe and receive the necessary education. Of course, one should not rely entirely on teachers, but kindergartens are a great opportunity to give children the necessary skills when there is a lack of personal free time. It is celebrated on April 21.

History

The history of Kindergarten Day is unknown. The first kindergarten appeared thanks to J. F. Oberlin in 1779. Johann saw how many children there were in his Strasbourg community who had to stay by themselves while their parents went off to work. He teamed up with Louise Scheppler and founded the first nursery where parents could leave their children. Trained professionals worked with them there, teaching the little ones social skills and providing primary education.

Gradually more and more kindergartens became available. They opened all over Europe. The first kindergarten in the United States appeared more than a century later – in 1885 in Wisconsin. It was created by students of F. Froebel, the famous educator and expert in preschool education from Germany.
